Win Loto or Euromillion

There's no point in obsessing over the same combination every time: even if some winners claim to have played the same numbers for years, the fact that a sequence of numbers has never been drawn in no way increases its chances of appearing in future sessions. The world of Loto and Euromillions is not based on any principle, and chance remains unfathomable.

A striking illustration of perseverance: on April 5, 2022, in the Allier region of France, a family hit the jackpot and pocketed the staggering sum of 15 million euros. Their secret? An unchanging grid, inherited from an unwavering loyalty: since 1976, they had only filled in the ballot with the same numbers - the famous 33, 38, 41, 44, 49 and 7 as the "lucky" number. Anecdotally, shortly before the victory, one member even suggested a change... Tradition prevailed, however - and good for them.

But is this proof that, by persisting, fortune systematically rewards constancy? Or should we believe that, with three draws every week, the same combination will emerge sooner or later - even if that "sooner" seems like a statistical eternity? The reality is more nuanced: probability remains indifferent to the past, with each draw erasing the memory of the previous one.

Tricks or martingales to win "better" at Loto or Euromillion

Let's face it: every number has an equal chance of appearing in every draw. Each time, everything is reset; whether the 34 or 49 comes up several times in a row or is forgotten for years, the wheel turns with no hidden logic. The same goes for the grids: the probability of obtaining the right combination remains measured out in small doses, i.e. a one-in-139-million chance of winning the Euromillion and a one-in-14-million chance of winning the Loto. There's no way of cracking this secret, whether you believe in fetishes or not.

That said, there are a few tricks you can use to maximize your winnings if you're lucky. Here are a few tips:

Avoid obvious numerical sequences (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or upside down), as many think of them for convenience or superstition: if you win, the cake is shared with too many guests!

Think originality. Frequently, players tick the dates of birth; however, as the month never has more than 31 days, numbers beyond 31 are less frequently selected. Betting on them means potentially less fragmented winnings.

Here's another story to illustrate the point. In the north of France, another family persisted in playing the same grid for years, then, on a whim, changed two numbers. The result: seven days later, a jackpot of 13 million euros! The combination: 6, 10, 19, 32, 48 and 5 as the "lucky" number. So why not you in the next New Year's draw? Even if these numbers have already been favored by fate, there's no rule against them reappearing. After all, chance doesn't bother with logic...
